Pizzeria moving after fire

GREENFIELD — After a fire damaged Hometown Classic Pizza in May, the restaurant plans to reopen about a mile down the street this fall.

The blaze broke out in an apartment above the pizzeria, located at 12 W. Main St., early May 2, and was attributed to careless smoking.

Restaurateur Julie Bartlett, who leased Hometown Classic Pizza’s space downtown, said plans are in place to move to 1002 E. Main St. She said the reopening likely won’t be until closer to the end of September, when permits and necessary changes to the new building are complete.

The restaurant, which had recently undergone renovations, suffered water and smoke damage that ruined booths, decor and the ceiling. Bartlett said about half of the establishment’s decor was able to be salvaged.

GBC updates logo for first time since 1998

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Banking Co. has a new look.

Renee Rupley, vice president-marketing director for the bank, said it’s in the process of rolling out its new brand image. That roll-out continued recently with the installation of new signs with the updated logo outside of its main office at 1920 N. State St. While the new design keeps the company’s abbreviation in lowercase letters, its typeface has changed and its shade of green has lightened. The new image also adds the word "bank" in all gold, capital letters.

Rupley said GBC last updated its logo in 1998. She said the bank had originally planned on launching the new brand image in February or March, but the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted those plans, prompting the bank to restart with more of a phasing-in approach.
