To the editor:
As a Greenfield resident with family in Chicago, I travel Interstates 65 and 70 frequently and have had to contend with heavy and often dangerous truck traffic. I understand that both Walmart and Amazon plan to add distribution centers in western Hancock County. If this is the case, I hope you have planned for the increase in truck traffic on our state roads. I welcome industry coming to our city, county and state, but I also want the ability to travel within my community without being stuck in bumper-to-bumper truck traffic.
We need to widen I-70 and I-65 to accommodate three lanes of traffic in each direction. We also need to add an on/off ramp to I-70 between Mount Comfort Road and State Road 9. I hope you all will take action to expand our roadways and create the infrastructure necessary to accommodate this growth.
I fear if you do not act, there will be serious backlash from county and city residents. I appreciate your kind consideration of this recommendation.
