GREENFIELD — The teen-age girl was sexually abused, her family told police. Following an investigation, sexual misconduct charges were filed and are pending against an 18-year-old Greenfield man stemming from an incident in January.

Andrew Michael Patrick, 18, 100 block of Stutsman Drive, has been charged with two Level 5 felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and a Class B misdemeanor charge of battery. The most serious charges carry up to six years in prison for each count.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the girl told investigators she had connected with Patrick through social media a few years ago and agreed to sneak out of her father’s house to meet him and two friends around 11 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Once the victim, Patrick and the two others got together to hang out in a car, alcohol was consumed, the affidavit said. The girl told police she began feeling “dizzy and intoxicated” after drinking a small amount of alcohol. The girl was concerned that Patrick had slipped something into the alcohol.

According to the report, while the group were riding around Greenfield, the victim was sitting in the backseat of the car with Patrick, who kissed her after she asked him to stop. Patrick then made the victim perform a sexual act against her will, the affidavit said.

The victim told investigators she was initially worried about telling her father about the incident because she was afraid she’d get in trouble for sneaking out of the house.

The report was eventually filed with the Greenfield Police Department on Jan. 24 after it had been contacted by officials from the Shirley Police Department, the probable cause affidavit said.

Patrick had an initial hearing in Hancock County Superior Court 1 Tuesday, June 9, where court commissioner, Cody Coombs set a $2,500 cash bond and entered a not-guilty plea. A no contact order was also put in place. Patrick is scheduled to have a pretrial hearing on Aug. 5.
