Indiana Members Foundation awards new scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), along with Indiana Members Credit Union, recently announced Rachel Bates, New Palestine, as the recipient of the first annual Ron Collier Family Collegiate Scholarship Program. Bates received a $2,500 scholarship.

The Ron Collier Family Collegiate Scholarship Program is available to New Palestine High School seniors who are members of Indiana Members Credit Union and intend to study full-time at an accredited college or university.

To create the scholarship, Indiana Members Credit Union President and CEO Ron Collier donated $2,500 to Indiana Members Foundation. Collier is a long-time resident of New Palestine. After graduating from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, he went on to teach at Noblesville High School. Collier has been with IMCU since 1985 and became President and CEO in 2003. Collier and wife Debbie have three children who graduated from New Palestine High School and four grandchildren.

Collier presented the scholarship to Bates at New Palestine High School. Bates will be attending Ball State University in the fall and plans to major in Business Administration. She is a ten-year member of Hancock County 4-H, has earned several philanthropic awards for her volunteerism and has a passion to work with people and business. Her ultimate goal is to earn a law degree and open up a family and elder law office in Hancock County.
