HANCOCK COUNTY — U.S. News and World Report  ranked the county’s high schools in the top 50 for the Indianapolis metro area for 2020.

New Palestine High School was ranked 16th in the Indianapolis metro area, 48th in Indiana and 3,011th nationally.

Mt. Vernon High School was ranked 17th in the Indianapolis metro area, 64th in the state and 3,682nd in the U.S.

Eastern Hancock High School was ranked 27th in the Indianapolis metro area, 102nd in Indiana and 4,794th in the nation.

Greenfield-Central High School was ranked 49th in the Indianapolis metro area, 207th in the state and 8,122nd nationally.

Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation rates and how well the schools’ students are prepared for college. U.S. News ranked approximately 17,790 public high schools in the nation.
