MAXWELL — An employee of a concrete construction product manufacturer was killed Thursday after he apparently fell into a pit.
Maj. Robert Campbell with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department identified the worker as Randall Weber, 61, an employee of County Materials Corp. Campbell said Weber had a residence in McCordsville for working at County Materials Corp. but was originally from Illinois.
First-responders were called to plant at 119 N. Main St., Maxwell, at about 2:08 p.m. Thursday, May 21, for a report of a man who was not conscious or breathing. Campbell said Weber apparently had fallen about 15 feet. No one witnessed the accident, Campbell said, noting Weber died at the scene.
Campbell said everything from the investigation is consistent with a fall. He said no foul play is suspected and that the death is being considered a workplace accident.
A County Materials Corp. representative able to comment on the accident could not be reached Friday afternoon.
