County’s cases increase by 11; no new deaths reported

HANCOCK COUNTY — Positive cases of the novel coronavirus are continuing to increase in Hancock County, although the county has not seen any new deaths due to the virus since April 19.

Cases of COVID-19 in the county hit 171 on Friday, April 24. The number increased by 11 compared to the previous day. That is Hancock County’s largest increase in recorded cases since April 3, which saw an increase of 15 cases.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the county remains at seven. A total of 1,224 coronavirus tests of county residents have been recorded, up from 1,181 on Thursday.

Around the state, 35 new deaths were recorded Friday, with a total of 741 Indiana casualties. The state reported 656 newly recorded cases, for a total of 13,680. A total of 75,553 Hoosiers have been tested for COVID-19, with 18.1 percent testing positive.
