Hancock County coronavirus cases rise by 4

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Indiana State Department of Health reported four new COVID-19 cases in Hancock County Thursday, April 2, raising the county’s total to 37.

Statewide early Thursday, positive cases rose almost 500 to 3,039, deaths rose 13 to 78 and total tests rose almost 2,000 to 16,285.

Hancock County has also had two deaths from the virus since it was first reported in the county on March 22.

Marion County, the home of Indianapolis, had 192 of the state’s 474 new coronavirus cases reported Thursday. Indianapolis and the seven counties surrounding it account for 45% of Indiana’s COVID-19 deaths and 62% of its confirmed cases. Marion County alone has had 24 COVID-19 deaths, or 31% of Indiana’s total, and 1,304 confirmed cases that account for 43% of the state’s total.
