To the editor:
We are in the midst of a very real medical situation. I have been thinking.
The average American eats out four times a week. Basically all dine-in restaurants have been closed, but most of the establishments have lobby service or carryout.
What if each of us would agree to purchase $10 to $15 gift cards from our favorite establishments and have them hold those cards for our first-responders? We could order the cards by phone, and the first-responders could go through the drive-through and pick up an order. This way, we can thank them because they are out there every day. We would be helping our local businesses, thanking someone and doing the right thing without endangering ourselves or spreading the coronavirus. Just a thought. Hunker down.
