To the editor:

The county commissioners and county council have known for a very long time that, along with having to build a new jail, they would have to relocate the prosecutor’s office and the probation department.

After casually looking at a jail solution for more than 10 years, they finally acted on that and declared victory.

However, as accurately reported in the Daily Reporter, they still have no answer to the huge problems in relocating the probation department and the prosecutor’s office. Moving one of them, the prosecutor, into two other county offices is not an answer. This compounds the space problem by overcrowding those offices while still leaving the prosecutor with insufficient space. It also doesn’t address the probation problem at all.

It’s clear that we need some new members of the commissioners and council. Remember this fiasco as you go to the polls in May.
