Create and paint a vase

FORTVILLE – At Home with Us – Indiana offers a pallet knife painting class to create a colorful vase at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at At Home wth Us – Indiana, 202 S. Main St. Michelle from Mixed Up Media by Michelle will talk participants through each step of the project painted with acrylics on a wooden surface. Special Olympics hosts artistic fundraiser

GREENFIELD – The public is invited to a Special Olympics wood painting fundraiser from 1 to 3:30 p.m., Feb. 29, at the Masonic Lodge, 661 Tague St. A party facilitator will bring all the materials needed to create a personalized wood sign. Participants can select from more than 900 designs, 60 paint colors and six stains. Those planning to attend must pre-order signs by 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at creativegatheringsindy.com/order-your-sign.html in order for the sign to be stained and vinyl stencils cut ahead of the workshop. Signs cost between $35 and $60; $10 from each sign will go to the Special Olympics.

Master Gardeners to meet for February

GREENFIELD — The public is invited to the Hancock County Master Gardeners’ monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Hancock County Extension Office, 802 N. Apple St. The topic for the evening, "Creating a Miniature Garden," will be presented by Darlene Trusty. Attendees will learn how to create and care for miniature gardens in a terrarium or shallow pot. Trusty, a retired school teacher and Master Gardener for 12 years, works at Allisonville Nursery where she speaks with garden groups and presents workshops. A business meeting of the Hancock County Master Gardeners will follow at 7:40 p.m.

‘1st Day’ hikes offered at preserve 

GREENFIELD —Greenfield Parks and Recreation invites families and individuals interested in 1st Day hikes, held the first Saturday of every month at Thornwood Preserve, 1597 S. Morristown Pike. The naturalist-led hikes start at 9 a.m. and are $5 per person. Those interested in participating should call 317-477-4340 for more information.
