MUNCIE
Dennis Leslie Howell, age 74, of Muncie, formally of Greenfield, IN and Mundelein, IL passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Muncie. He was born December 2, 1945 in Chicago, IL to James L. and Dorothy (Gray) Howell.
He married Anna Marie (Haas) on November 24, 1992. During his youth in Mundelein, IL, he worked for Bills Pizza, which is still in business today. Later, he worked for Delco Remy until his retirement.
Dennis loved researching his family’s genealogy. He was able to take a trip to the United Kingdom as a highlight, and a trip to Vegas was always in the cards. Denny was an excellent athlete. He played football, basketball, ran track, and was a lifeguard at Riley Pool. He loved his family and friends, fishing, horse racing, going to the casino, old movies, music, sports, and you would always hear him saying the phrase “I had a dog once!”
He is survived by his wife Anna; children Lisa (Bill) Gillette, Carol (David) McCorkle, John (Jessica) Howell, Robin (Art) Gwaltney, and Tim Crull’ grandchildren Jen (Michael) Harbuck, Chris (Mandy) Gillette, Megan (Jason) Reneau, Emma McCorkle, Izzie and Jackson Howell, Angela (Rafael) Domenech, and Christina Friend; siblings James Howell, Jane Eaks, Pam Gwinnup, John (Sandra) Howell, and David (Debra) Howell; 9 great-grandchildren; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, grandmother Dorothy Cambell Gray, step-mother Betty Howell, brother Charles “Kevin” Howell, step-son Chris Crull, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Howell, and brother-in-law David Eaks.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 8, 2020 at The Venue on Park, located at 211 West Park Ave, Greenfield, IN 46140 at 12 p.m.
