GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Democrats will hold the party’s first meeting of the year Monday, Jan. 13. Attendees can learn about the party’s plans for the 2020 national, state and local elections. Anyone interested in running for local office as a Democrat in 2020 should also attend.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Keith McClarnon Government Center in Greenfield, located at 10 S. State Street.

While most elected officials in Hancock County are Republicans, Hancock County Democratic Party chair Randy Johnson said the presidential election year will provide an opportunity for any local Democrats running for office to make their case to an engaged electorate.

“I hope we can find some good candidates,” Johnson said.

The county party is also looking to recruit 22 delegates to attend Indiana’s state convention, where delegates for the national presidential nominating convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will be selected. Those positions will be elected on the May 10 primary ballot.
