‘Steel Magnolias’ opens 2020 season
INDIANAPOLIS — Beef & Boards opens its 2020 season with “Steel Magnolias,” the story of lifelong friends — a group of gossipy southern ladies — in a small-town beauty parlor. Alternately hilarious and touching, in the end, it reveals the strength of women and their friendships. The play was turned into a Hollywood blockbuster in 1989 and starred Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley Maclaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis — and young and unknown 19-year-old Julia Roberts. “Steel Magnolias” plays Jan. 4 through Feb. 2 at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, 9301 Michigan Road.
