Sushi restaurant opens in Fortville

FORTVILLE — Sushi is now served in downtown Fortville.

Bonsai is open 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at 18 S. Main St.

Shopping center getting facelift

GREENFIELD — Much of Brandywine Plaza is getting a new façade.

The shopping center is located in the 1500 block of North State Street’s east side. Work is under way on the part of the plaza south of Kroger, which includes tenants like Great Clips, Bath & Body Works and Wasabi.

According to the improvement location permit for the project, the exterior renovations are estimated at more than $360,000.

October unemployment down from a year ago

HANCOCK COUNTY — Unemployment rates in October 2019 for Hancock County, Indiana and the country were down from the previous year.

Hancock County’s October 2019 unemployment rate was 2.5 percent, down from October 2018’s 3 percent. That placed it 77th out of Indiana’s 92 counties, with Fayette County ranking highest at 4.4 percent and Tipton County the lowest at 2.1 percent.

The unemployment rate in Indiana for October 2019 was 3.2 percent, down from October 2018’s 3.5 percent. The U.S. was 3.3 percent in October 2019 and 3.5 percent for the month the previous year.

October 2019 unemployment rates for Hancock County, Indiana and the U.S. remained the same as September 2019.

Chamber hosting Jingle Mingle

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce invites members and their guests to its annual Jingle Mingle.

The event is 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at the chamber office, located at 1 Courthouse Plaza, Greenfield.

There will be appetizers, music and networking. The silent auction ends at 7 p.m.
