NEW PALESTINE — The New Palestine High School football team won’t be alone when players board buses today to head to Lucas Oil Stadium for their Class 5A state championship game.

Parents and other supporters plan to line Main Street as the caravan leaves town, and they’ve issued an open invitation to anyone else who wants to come support the team.

The buses will depart at about 4:50 p.m. from the high school, according to a post on the New Palestine Grid Iron Alliance Facebook page. Fans are invited to stand along West Main Street and wave and cheer as the buses pass.

The booster group also asks that fans bring red bandannas or towels to wave — “Terrible Towel”-style — during tonight’s game. Bandannas were passed out at the team’s semi-state pep rally, but any “Red Rage Rag” will serve the purpose, the group said in another Facebook post.

Tonight’s game against Valparaiso begins at 7 p.m.
