Thelma “Jean” Wood, 93, of New Palestine, IN passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019 at her home with her family at her side. Jean was born Sept. 15, 1926 in Hilliard, Ohio to Cleon Frederick Frey Sr and Golda Elsa Hosier Frey. It was at New Palestine High School she met her husband Wendell Paul Wood Sr and they married in 1943.
Jean was a past member of The New Palestine Zion United church of Christ where she served as church Secretary. She was President of Tote Meals and was the secretary of Merlau Trucking working along side of her husband Wendell. Jean spent a number of years wintering in the Clearwater area of Florida.
She is survived by her son Butch Wood (Karen), six grandsons, eleven great grandsons and two great great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Barbara Ann Hill Parker and great grandson Zachary Wood.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service, at Hendryx Mortuary New Palestine Chapel 19 East Main St New Palestine IN, 46163. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
