Tickets on sale for “Mermaid in Miami”

GREENFIELD – Tickets are on sale now for KidsPlay, Inc. children’s theatre fall production of “Mermaid in Miami” Nov. 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St. in Greenfield. The family-friendly retelling of “The Little Mermaid” puts a modern twist on the original Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale when Ernie, a lonely old fisherman, rescues a mermaid named Breeze who has become entangled in a fishing net. Breeze has just escaped from the cruel underwater kingdom of the idiotic Emperor Tropico and is looking forward to freedom. However, hanging around Ernie’s secluded lagoon isn’t enough for her. When she spies Rico — local heart-breaker and Mambo king — practicing for a dance competition, Breeze makes a deal with the Swamp Hag to achieve her dream of being a dancer. Tickets are available for $5 at Hometown Comics, 1040 N. State St. or at the box office an hour before show time.
