GREENFIELD — When the Indiana state football tournament begins on Oct. 25, Hancock County will only play host to one game.

The IHSAA conducted its annual sectional draw on Sunday evening, and all but one county team found out it will be traveling to open the 2019 tourney.

Greenfield-Central will host a first-round game on Oct. 25. Mt. Vernon and Eastern Hancock will be on the road that night, and New Palestine will open on the road on Nov. 1.

In Class 5A, the defending state champion Dragons are part of a four-team Sectional 14. All four will begin play in the second week of the tournament. The Dragons will travel to Whiteland, while Seymour travels to Franklin in the other semifinal game.

Mt. Vernon and Greenfield-Central are both in 4A’s Sectional 21, and they are on completely opposite ends of the bracket. Mt. Vernon will travel to Connersville, then play the winner of a first-round game between New Castle and host Richmond. Shelbyville and Pendleton Heights will meet on the bottom half of the bracket in Pendleton, with the winner meeting either Muncie Central or Greenfield-Central in the semifinals.

In Class 2A’s Sectional 38, Eastern Hancock will embark on a lengthy road trip to open tournament play against Winchester. The winner of that game will meet the winner of the Heritage Christian at Northeastern game in the semifinal. The top half of the bracket sees Indianapolis Howe visiting Shenandoah and Scecina visiting Centerville.
