Bulmahn honored prior to MV win

The Marauders beat Fishers, 3-0, improving to 18-4 on the season.

Set scorers were 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.

Prior to the match, senior setter Victoria Bulmahn was recognized for reaching the 2,000-assist milestone for her career. Bulmahn, after Tuesday’s win, has a school-record 2,058 for her career.

She was presented a game ball before the match by the previous school record-holder, Kayla Negley.

Bulmahn had 24 assists, 11 digs, six kills and two total blocks in the win over Fishers.

Cecilia Bulmahn had a team-best 10 kills. Claire Ertel led in digs with 15.

Dragons lose to Flashes, Tigers

New Palestine dropped to 11-10 on the season with a 3-0 loss to Franklin Central Monday and a 3-0 loss to two-time defending state champion Yorktown Tuesday.

Against Franklin Central, the Dragons lost by set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-20. Versus Yorktown, they were defeated 25-13, 25-14, 25-11.

In the match with the Flashes, Kaelyn Armstrong had eight kills and eight digs. Grace Myers contributed 12 digs. Sarah Adam had five kills and 21 assists. McKaylah Flagle added six digs.

Against Yorktown, Myers had 16 digs, while Armstrong added nine. Reina Amones and Rachel Popp had eight digs apiece, while Adam added six.

Cougars upset No. 9 Fishers

Ranked No. 14 in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Class 3A poll, Greenfield-Central upset No. 9 Fishers, 2-1, Tuesday in Greenfield.

Tyler Murphy had both Greenfield-Central goals. John Halvorsen and Jackson Findley had assists.

The Cougars are 14-1 on the season.

1st-half flurry keys Mt. Vernon win

Mt. Vernon scored all the goals it needed in the first half to defeat visiting Muncie Burris, 4-2, on Tuesday.

All four Marauder goals came in the first period. Drew Heitman, Sam Robert-Eze, Aden Cappelletti and Jacob Knepper had the goals.

Tony De Los Santos and Robert-Eze had assists.

Mt. Vernon is 7-8 on the season.

New Pal falls to Franklin

New Palestine lost 5-2 at Franklin on Tuesday.

The Dragons drop to 1-12-1 on the season.

Marauders win Golden Bear Invite

Mt. Vernon scored 66 points and won the 20-team Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday.

The Marauders finished 15 points ahead of second-place Southport.

Reyce Morgan led MV with an eighth-place finish, wrapping up the 5K course in 17:15.50. Colin Brown was close behind in 11th, finishing in 17:19.60. Austin Rush was 13th, clocking in at 17:29.10.

All five scoring Marauders were in the top 20. Tyler Strantz finished 16th (17:31.90) and Jacob Benz placed 18th (17:46.20).

Mt. Vernon places fourth

In its final regular-season tune-up, Mt. Vernon finished fourth out of 16 teams, scoring 137 points, at the Shelbyville Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday.

Rilee Hartman led the Marauders with a 19th place finish, completing the 5K course in 22:02.70. She was one spot ahead of Melinda Cornelius, who was 20th in 22:05.00.

Other Marauder scorers were, Esther Parham (24th, 22:24.50), Morgan Tharp (26th, 22:25.40) and Lydia Carrell (28th, 22:36.40).

Eastern loses to Pendleton Heights

In a close match at Pendleton Heights on Tuesday, Eastern Hancock lost 3-2 to the Arabians.

For the Royals, Kodey Huff won his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Zeke Dixon won at No. 3 by a score of 6-2, 6-2.

It was the final regular season match.

Eastern Hancock will take an 11-11 record into Thursday’s 5 p.m. sectional match against New Palestine at Fishers High School.
