Cougars retain HHC Bell

Greenfield-Central defeated Shelbyville 8-0 to secure possession of the Hoosier Heritage Conference Traveling Bell until next conference season.

Senior Anne Marie DeKeyser had two goals and an assist. Kelsi McLaughlin also had two goals. Zuleny Calderon, Cora Bishop, Kennedy Trapp and Morgan Murdoch added goals to the scoring column.

Trapp had three assists. Others adding assists were, Bishop, Haley Arthur, Gladys Rodriguez, Schyler Slunaker and Hannah Skene.

Greenfield-Central is 12-2 overall and 6-1 in the HHC. Shelbyville is 3-8-1 and 1-4 in the conference.

Greenfield-Central wins

In a makeup game from a previous rainout, Greenfield-Central dominated Lawrence North 7-1 to improve to 12-1 on the season.

Zack Bell and Jordan Phillips each had two goals. Bryce Kinnaman, Caleb Mundell, and Jason Scrivner had the others.

Mundell and Bell each had two assists. Carson Jones and John Halvorsen also had assists.

Marauders fall to Arabians

Mt. Vernon took a tough loss on Thursday, losing 2-1 to Pendleton Heights on penalty kicks.

Tied 1-1 after regulation and overtimes, Pendleton Heights outscored Mt. Vernon 4-3 on penalty kicks to win the match.

Trailing 1-0, Mt. Vernon scored on a Jacob Knepper goal, assisted by Drew Heitman.

In the shootout, Cole Worley, Taylor Lorsung and Heitman scored.

Mt. Vernon is 6-7 and 3-3 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Pendleton Heights is 8-3-1 and 4-1 in the HHC.

Dragons lose to Fishers

At New Palestine on Thursday, the Dragons dropped a 10-0 decision to Fishers.

Mt. Vernon wins at LN

With a 3-1 victory on the road at Lawrence North, Mt. Vernon improved its record to 15-3 on Thursday.

Mt. Vernon won by set scores of 30-28, 14-25, 25-22, 25-14.

Cecilia Bulmahn and Claire Ertel had 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Victoria Bulmahn had seven total blocks and 36 assists.

Cecilia Bulmahn led in digs with 19. Victoria Bulmahn and Ertel each had 18 and Sophie Schultz had 17.

Dragons lose to New Castle

New Palestine lost 3-0, by set scores of 25-11, 25-3, 25-18 to visiting New Castle on Thursday.

Reagan Kleiman had six kills on just eight attempts. Kaelyn Armstrong had five kills and Kennedy Stephenson had two blocks.

Royals drop MEC contest

In a road Mid-Eastern Conference match, Eastern Hancock fell 3-0 Thursday to Monroe Central.

Eastern Hancock is 7-16 overall and 2-6 in the MEC.

Boys tennis

Dragons squeak by Chatard

New Palestine defeated Bishop Chatard, 3-2, at home on Thursday.

Ben Blachly won his match at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Colin Darley was victorious at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

To clinch the victory, Ezra Schwier and Ethan Haeberle won at No. 2 doubles, 7-5, 6-4.

The victory came on the team’s Senior Day.

Royals lose 4-1 to Panthers

Eastern Hancock lost 4-1 at Knightstown on Thursday.

Freshman No. 3 singles player Zeke Dixon had the Royals’ win, 6-4, 6-0.

Eastern Hancock is 10-8 on the season.

Warriors blank Cougars

Greenfield-Central lost Thursday to Whiteland, 5-0, at home.

On the team’s Senior Night, Greenfield-Central started six seniors.

Kane Bradley, Collin Hunt and Alex Hager played in singles.

In doubles, Seth Kirkpatrick played with sophomore Robbie Dye and Tyler Hornaday and Jadon Yeager made up the No. 2 team.

No. 1 doubles had the closest match as Kirkpatrick and Dye lost 6-3, 6-4.
