Duo to play concert in Knightstown

KNIGHTSTOWN — The Bethel Arts Series of Bethel Presbyterian Church will present Brian and Molly Wallen in concert at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25. The church is located at 112 S. Franklin St., Knightstown.

The Wallens have taken their close-knit harmony vocals across the United State and abroad at events such as the Telluride Blues Fest.

Originally from Kentucky, Molly Wallen is a classically trained vocalist and percussionist with experience in opera and bluegrass alike. Hoosier guitarist/vocalist Brian Keith Wallen won second in the 2015 International Blues Challenge and was also named “Artist of the Year” by the Starr-Gennett Foundation.

“Incorporating elements of blues, bluegrass, country, and folk, their combined influences range from acoustic favorites such as Chris Stapleton and John Prine to the guitar-driven blues of John Mayer and Bonnie Raitt,” according to the duo’s website (thewallensmusic.com).

A freewill offering will be received for the performers.

Mt. Lebanon plans fish fry

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, will play host to a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 17).

The menu will include fried fish, French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, beverage and dessert. Hot dogs and a carryout are available. A free-will donation will be accepted, with the proceeds going to missions and special projects.

Trinity Park plans fish fry

GREENFIELD — Trinity Park United Methodist Church will play host to a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 17) in the church’s Ministry Center at 207 W. Park Ave.

The menu features fish or tenderloin sandwiches, cole slaw, chips, baked beans and desserts. A free-will offering will be accepted. Carry-out is available.

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next community breakfast is set for 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 17) at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

Free-will offerings are accepted from those able to make them.

Auto show event planned

McCORDSVILLE — Cars and Coffee, an event that offers people coffee, donuts and social/networking opportunities, is planned for 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at Outlook Christian Church, 6531 N. County Road 600W, McCordsville.

People are welcome to attend with or without a car to show.

Family Night features guest speaker

GREENFIELD — Family Night features a pitch-in at 6 p.m. Friday at Curry’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 3488 N. County Road 375E.

Harvest of Talents to raise money to feed hungry

FORTVILLE — The third annual Harvest of Talents fundraiser is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W.

Decor, furniture and other items will be for sale. Live and silent auctions are also planned.

Breakfast will be available at 9 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Car show registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with awards given at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $20. Deadline is Aug. 30.
