VERNON TOWNSHIP — A resignation has opened up a seat for a Republican on the Vernon Township Board.

Nancy Cushman, a Republican who started a four-year term on the board in January, has stepped down.

The Hancock County GOP will hold a caucus at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the Vernon Township trustee’s office, 700 W. Broadway St., Fortville. Republican Hancock County precinct committeemen will vote on Cushman’s replacement.

Republicans interested in running for the open board position must turn in paperwork to Janice Silvey, chairwoman of the Hancock County GOP, at least 72 hours before the caucus. Paperwork is available at the Hancock County Election Office, 9 E. Main St., Room 227, Greenfield, or by contacting Silvey at [email protected].
