St. Thomas Festival coming

FORTVILLE — The 37th annual St. Thomas Festival weekend is set for 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 3. The church is located at 523 S. Merrill St., Fortville.

Monte Carlo Night (for people 21 and older) is Friday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple. Admission includes food, soft drinks, beer and wine coolers. Games include blackjack, Texas poker, roulette, chuck-a-luck, reverse raffle, tip boards, left-right-center, Pai Gow poker and Texas hold ’em.

Ol’ Time Country Fun summer festival is set for Aug. 3 with activities for all ages.

There will be a homemade chicken noodle dinner, homemade dessert corner, ice cream, children’s games, live music, bingo, blood drive, silent auction, raffles for cash prizes and a hand-stitched quilt of English Knot design, walking tacos, elephant ears, lemon shake-ups, farmers market and church tours.

Competitors earn tokens at most games Aug. 3 that they can cash in for various levels of prizes at the Redemption Center.

African Children’s Choir to perform

GREENFIELD — The African Children’s Choir will perform at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 4 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Admission is free; a free-will offering will follow the choir’s concert.

The choir’s “Just As I Am” tour combines traditional hymns with African cultural sounds and a stunning visual story of God’s faithfulness.

The free-will offering will help support the Music for Life Institute. The African Children’s Choir has been Music for Life’s major international program during its 34-year history. Music for Life (MFL) has relief and development programs in seven African countries. MFL has educated more than 52,000 children, and hundreds of thousands of lives have been impacted by its international relief and development programs.

Auto show events planned

McCORDSVILLE — Cars and Coffee, an event that offers people coffee, donuts and social/networking opportunities, is planned for several mornings this summer at Outlook Christian Church, 6531 N. County Road 600W, McCordsville.

People are welcome to attend with or without a car to show.

Remaining events are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday (July 27), Aug. 10 and Aug. 24.

Mt. Lebanon organizes fish fry

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3447 S. State Road 9, will play host to a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 17.

The menu will include fried fish, French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw, beverage and dessert. Hot dogs and a carryout are available. A free-will donation will be accepted, with the proceeds going to missions and special projects.

Harvest of Talents to raise money to feed hungry

FORTVILLE — The third annual Harvest of Talents fundraiser is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at Fortville Christian Church, 9450 N. County Road 200W.

Decor, furniture and other items will be for sale. Live and silent auctions are also planned.

Breakfast will be available at 9 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Car show registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with awards given at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $20. Deadline is Aug. 30.

Women’s retreat has seaside theme

NEW PALESTINE — The United Methodist Women’s “Seaside Escape” retreat is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 10 at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. County Road 500W.

Women can discover how God is active in their own lives. “Seaside Escape” is where women bask in God’s presence. It offers a virtual seaside escape where they will explore building activities and discussion bringing them closer to God and each other.

United Methodist Men plan golf outing

GREENFIELD — The United Methodist Men’s annual golf outing will be Aug. 10 at Arrowhead Golf Course, 3974 Club House Drive, Greenfield. Cost will be $50 per golfer and will include lunch and prizes.

It will be a Florida scramble format with tee time at 8 a.m. Check-in starts at 7 a.m. Hole sponsors are sought for $50 each; each sponsor will have a sign with its name on it. Call the New Palestine United Methodist Church office at 317-861-4390 to register or for additional information.
