HANCOCK COUNTY — Summer will soon come to a close — not weather-wise, but for the thousands of Hancock County schoolchildren who return to school starting next week. The summer fun calendar, however, remains full with a Saturday full of activities and events.

Bike the Pennsy Trail through Hancock County

The fourth in a series of six monthly bike rides, hosted by the National Road Heritage Trail, will leave from the Pennsy Trail in downtown Greenfield, starting behind the Hancock County Courthouse at 9 a.m. Saturday. The July ride will include Greenfield’s Pennsy Trail, the Buck Creek Trail in Cumberland and several miles along U.S. 40 for a total of 30 miles. The ride will conclude back in Greenfield at the Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival where participants can enjoy refreshments and entertainment. For more information, visit nrht.org.

Weekly Farmer’s Market at the Fairgrounds

The weekly farmer’s market at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 N. Apple St., will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. The market includes a variety of vendors with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, butter, eggs, baked goods, soaps, bath bombs and crafts.

Blueberry Saturday

at Tuttle’s OrchardsTuttle Orchards, 5717 N. County Road 300W, celebrates blueberries from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with blueberry treats available in the cafe. Admission is free, but there is an additional charge for children’s activities such as the Tractor Town play area, narrated wagon rides and a kids’ bubble lab. Celebrate Irish Language Day at the library

Join Irish speakers for this Lá na Gaeilge (Irish Language Day) event at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Register for $50 at squareup.com/store/indiana-celtic-community/ to attend this 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. workshop. Instruction will focus on grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking Ireland’s first official language. This event is for all levels of Irish learners from absolute beginners to advanced speakers. Attendees should bring their preferred learning materials: paper, pen/pencil, dictionaries or flash cards. Attendees may also bring snacks to share and plan to go out to lunch as a group.

Euchre Night for the Soup Kitchen at the Elks Club

The Greenfield Elks will host a Euchre Night as a benefit for the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen at the Elks Club, 820 S. State St. Registration opens at 6 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10; participants should bring quarters for each euchre. The rules consist of eight deals per game with eight total games. Winners will move to the next table and change partners for each game. The top three scorers will win cash prizes. Annual Movie Night

in Riley ParkThe Greenfield-Central Junior High Fusionettes dance team will host its annual movie night at 9 p.m. at Riley Park at the corner of Main and Apple Streets. Travel back to 1959 and Rydell High School for a showing of “Grease” starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. All tickets are $5, available at the door with children under 3 admitted free. Concessions will be sold for $1 during the movie. Attendees should bring chairs and blankets. In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled.

And, if you’re still in the mood for fun after enjoying one or more of Saturday’s events, there’s always Sunday.

Cruise-In for the

Annual Hoosier LuauGreenfield Christian Church, 20 N. East St., hosts its eighth Annual Hoosier Luau and Classic Car Cruise-In from 5 to 7 p.m. Cruise-ins of all makes and models are invited with no registration fee. Goody bags are available to the first 100 cars. A dinner of pulled pork, baked beans, chips and ice cream will be served. The event includes door prizes, a disc jockey, water balloons, a bounce house, face painting and arts and crafts for the kids.
