HANCOCK COUNTY — Get ready to wave to the camera as the Google Maps Street View vehicle makes its way through Hancock County next week.

The car will film parts of Greenfield, from downtown to the hotel district, on Tuesday, as well as the main streets of New Palestine, Cumberland, Mt. Comfort, McCordsville and Fortville on Wednesday. The venture is part of Hancock County Tourism’s initiative to improve the county’s brand and advertising on the internet.

Truly360, a San Diego-based marketing company, has been managing how Hancock County-related content is seen on Google, said Brigette Cook Jones, executive director of Hancock County Tourism. Truly 360 employees plans to drive the Google Street View vehicle across 200 miles of Hancock County roads.

Some people plan to display signs and dress up as the vehicle drives by and records the terrain, Jones said. During next week’s visit, Truly360 will also take 360-degree videos inside the county’s top four hotels; conduct one-on-one training with six other hotels to improve their Google presence; and record drone aerial tours of two Hancock County communities, Jones said.

Tourism has agreed to pay Truly 360 nearly $2,000 a month for two years, Jones said. The agency has also been pulling event and business information from the tourism website and using it to promote Hancock County on Google.

If you have an eye for the camera, it’s not too late to RSVP. Those interested can contact Jones at 317-477-8687; by email at [email protected]; or at the Hancock County Visitors Center, 119 E. North St. in Greenfield.
