FoxGardin owner starting new bar/restaurant

FORTVILLE — The restaurateur behind FoxGardin Kitchen and Ale in downtown Fortville has an idea brewing for another bar/restaurant next door.

Owner Jacob Burgess wants to open a “Prohibition-style lounge” in the former hair salon at 211 S. Main St., according to a report presented last month to the Hancock County Board of Zoning Appeals, which approved the plans.

Burgess told the Fortville Town Council last month that the establishment will be members only and seat about 25.

The lounge will serve small plates along with traditional cocktails and beverages and will be restricted to patrons 21 and older, according to the board of zoning appeals report.

McCordsville Sports Park expanding fields

McCORDSVILLE — A soccer center just outside of McCordsville is getting two new fields.

The Hancock County Board of Zoning Appeals approved McCordsville Sports Park’s expansion request late last month. The park, located at 5450 State Road 67, is adding a new soccer field and new practice field on the property’s east side.

The expansion adds to the park’s portfolio of four existing soccer fields and a track.

Greenfield couple named Master Farmers

GREENFIELD — Ronnie and Sarah Mohr of Greenfield have been named Master Farmers, an award co-sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer and the Purdue University College of Agriculture.

The Mohrs, who grow corn and soybeans, bought their first farm in 1970, and Ronnie has been farming since he was 14, according to information on the award on Indiana Prairie Farmer’s website.

Paul Marsh of Marsh Farms LLC, one of the Mohrs’ landowners, nominated the couple for the award. He told Indiana Prairie Farmer that the Mohrs “achieved above-average, profitable yields on our family farm while caring for the land in a conserving and suitable manner.”
