HANCOCK COUNTY — Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is offering a new program for district residents at least 65 years old that will provide free admission to most middle and high school events.

Three kick-off events for the "Mt. Vernon 65+ Club" card program are coming up this summer at the MVCSC Administrative Service Center, 1806 W. State Road 234, Fortville:

  • 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 27
  • 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16
  • 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24

In-district residents who are 65 and older will need to bring a utility bill or proof of in-district residency and a state identification card.

Attendees will be able to enjoy snacks and meet school corporation superintendent Jack Parker.

Those who are unable to make any of the kick-off events may visit the administrative service center with their proof-of-residency and identification card after June 27. The process will take about 20 minutes to verify residency, register and print a 65+ Club card. The administrative service center is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The program excludes free admission to IHSAA playoff games, ISSMA events, HHC tournament games and designated events.
