NEW CASTLE — Eastern Hancock Elementary’s Girl Scout Troop 4438 recently visited New Castle Career Center. The troop worked with the Career Center Culinary Arts students to earn badges for Snacks and Making Choices. The girls created several healthy-choice snacks such as fruit nachos, fresh squeezed orange juice and banana/strawberry treats. Chef Robin Rinehart taught the troop about MyPlate and how to modify snack and meal choices. Troop 4438 enjoyed the visit to the Career Center, and some members hope to take culinary arts in high school.

New Castle Career Center serves eight schools, including Eastern Hancock. Culinary arts offers certifications and Ivy Tech dual credits to participating students. Spots are still open to juniors and seniors for the 2019-2020 school year.
