Mattingly Tiede White, 11, New Palestine, raised money and created 100 care packages to pass out to ALS patients for a fifth-grade passion project at New Palestine Intermediate School. She was inspired to take on the project after losing her grandmother to ALS a few years ago. She was invited recently to pass out the gifts at the ALS multidisciplinary clinic located in the Indiana University Neuroscience Building. Inside each bag were items she collected through donations. Items included a full-size handmade quilt, socks bearing an inspirational message, a bracelet and other items.
