To the editor:

I have to commend the Vernon Township trustee for having the foresight several years ago to saturate the township with tornado sirens, keeping Vernon Township citizens safe.

If I am outside I can faintly hear the one on County Road 700N. I am in Mohawk.

Eden received their siren because a Scout saw the need and raised the money for it! Good job!

Looking at the Hancock County Emergency Management map, it looks like most of the small towns in Hancock county received a tornado warning siren except for Mohawk!

When your town has a tornado go one mile north of it; one that comes down the railroad track, only to lift before it hits the grain elevator, sparing the town; but then have one actually hit the south edge of town, one would think top priority would be given to make sure a tornado siren was in this area.

Well, if you thought that, you would be so wrong. You see, folks, this whole area was left out! Being left out is something that seems to happen a lot out here in this little town, but then that is another story in itself!

There seems to be a tornado siren somewhere to the west of Mohawk. Can you hear it? Not unless you are outside! Who is going to be outside in inclement weather?

Our lives matter too!
