New Palestine blasted two home runs and used an eight-run third inning to beat Fishers 13-6.

New Palestine racked up 17 hits, with Tatum Biddle and Emily O’Connor each doubling and hitting a homer. Biddle was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs. O’Connor was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Jaylin Calvert was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Macy Miller was also 2-for-5 with a run. Emma Tucher doubled twice and scored three times. Raegan Hiatt was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Michaela Jones doubled and scored. Vivian Long and Lexi Campbell also had hits.

Kaylea Bullock pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings, allowing two hits. Sam Booe got the win with 5⅔ innings in the circle, allowing seven hits, six runs and striking out three.

The Dragons improved to 19-2 with the win. They travel to Kankakee Valley on Saturday for a rematch of the 2017 state championship game before facing Class 4A No. 5 Crown Point that afternoon.

Baseball

Royals no-hit by Raiders

Eastern Hancock had a tough night Wednesday against Shenandoah, falling 15-0 to the hosts.

The Royals didn’t get a hit in the game, striking out eight times and drawing two walks. Five Eastern Hancock pitchers combined to allow 16 hits, striking out four and walking two.

The Royals fell to 4-14 on the year, 1-7 in the Mid-Eastern Conference, with the loss.

Boys golf

Dragons finish 2nd

New Palestine finished second in a triangular match Wednesday at The Links.

The Dragons shot 174 on their home course, falling to Columbus North (162) but beating Shelbyville, which shot 196.

Josh Shinkle led the Dragons with a 42. Matt Kelley shot a 43. Quinn Dobbins added a 44. Chris Guhl and Matthew Barada each shot 45s.

Girls tennis

Marauders edge New Castle

Mt. Vernon got back on the winning track Wednesday, improving to 10-2 on the year with a 3-2 win against New Castle.

Kaleigh Helm won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Louisa Batge won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

The final Marauders point came from No. 2 doubles, with Lexi Shelton and Maddie Swingle winning 6-4, 6-2.

Cougars get road win

Greenfield-Central improved to 10-10 on the year with a 4-1 win at Knightstown on Wednesday.

Nae Pattakul had a perfect match, winning 6-0, 6-0 in under an hour at No. 3 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Aly Proper and Erin Wright won 6-4, 6-1, and No. 2 doubles Kaleigh Stephenson and Grace Silcox won 6-2, 6-2.

Avery Spencer won the fourth point for the Cougars with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.

Royals swept by Shenandoah

Eastern Hancock traveled to Shenandoah on Wednesday, falling in straight sets, 5-0, to the hosts.

The Royals are 6-6 on the year.

Dragons top Tigers

New Palestine faced Yorktown on the road Wednesday, beating the Tigers 3-2.

The Dragons had three straight-set victories. Megan Long won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Eliza Adams won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 2 doubles, Sheridan Schrowe/Ashley Truman won 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the match.
