New Palestine grad earns art honors

FRANKLIN — Franklin College Art Department recently presented awards at the opening reception of the spring semester student art exhibit.

Students from all levels of studio art classes have on display a selection of their work completed during the spring semester. Select pieces of art are available for purchase.

Included in the exhibit is the work of Kayla Commons, New Palestine High School graduate and daughter of Jeff and Misty Commons of Indianapolis. Commons received an Award of Excellence in Design II and an Honorable Mention in Fine Art Photo.

The art department will showcase student work through May 13. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Elba L. and Gene Portteus Branigin Atrium of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts, 255 Branigin Blvd., Franklin.
