NEW PALESTINE — The Central Indiana Spring Ring, a hand bell festival in memory of Dr. Mary Lynn Wolfe, will take place Saturday in the Zion Lutheran Church Gymnasium, 6513 W. County Road 300 S. Eight local choirs will participate in this all-day event, with the final concert at 3 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public. It will feature a hand bell piece written especially for this festival in memory of Wolfe, who was killed in a plane crash a year ago. Wolfe loved all things about hand bell choirs and was on her way to an Area 4 Hand Bell Festival in Mackinac City, Michigan, when she died. For more information, contact [email protected].

GREENFIELD — The artwork of Karen Martin will be on display in Greenfield Banking Co.’s Second Floor Art Gallery, 1920 N. State St., now through June. Martin credits her parents as an early artistic influence for encouraging her to paint, draw or craft with clay at a young age. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Ball State University, where she minored in art. Martin works with watercolors, pencil and acrylic, but her new favorite medium and technique is watercolor wax batiks. She uses special papers from Indonesia, Africa and other countries to give these pieces texture. Martin has won art competitions at the Indiana Grand Casino and the Grover Museum in Shelbyville. She has exhibited work at Shelbyville City Hall and with the Shelby Arts Alliance. More of Martin’s artwork can be viewed on her Facebook page Karen Martin’s Art Work, facebook.com/kmartin608891.
