GREENFIELD — A year-long undercover police investigation using a confidential informant led to the drug arrest of a Greenfield woman.

Lois Simmermeyer, 57, Greenfield, now faces multiple charges, including a Level 3 felony charge of dealing methamphetamine, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Officers from the Greenfield Police Department conducted two separate drug purchases with Simmermeyer — including a quanity of methamphetamine — in Hancock County between April 1, 2018, and April 1, 2019, according to a probable cause affidavit. She was arrested on Sunday without incident and was booked into the Hancock County Jail, police said.

In addition to the Level 3 felony drug charge, Simmermeyer also faces three other drug-related charges: possession of meth and dealing heroin, which are Level 5 felonies; and possession of heroin, a Level 6 felony.

The informant first bought methamphetamine in April 2018, the affidavit said. The second time, later that same month, the informant bought heroin, police said.

Judge Scott Sirk of Hancock Circuit Court set a $10,000 cash bond during Simmermeyer’s first court appearance Monday.

She remains in jail. Sirk appointed a public defender who will represent her at a pretrial conference in June. Her trial is tentatively set for late July.
