Italian Feast comes to Eden

EDEN — Eden United Methodist Church will serve an Italian Feast from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday (April 6) at the church, 2122 Eden Road, Greenfield.

The menu features spaghetti with meatballs, baked ziti and lasagna, as well as salad, bread, and a dessert choice. A free-will offering will be accepted.

NEW PALESTINE — Handbell choirs will perform at 3 p.m. April 13 at the Central Indiana Spring Ring Concert in Memory of Mary Lynn Wolfe. The performance is at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. County Road 300S, New Palestine.

Pork chop dinner set at Mohawk

MOHAWK — Mohawk United Methodist Church’s annual Pork Chop Dinner County Fair Style runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. April 13 at the church, 2045 N. County Road 400W, Greenfield.

Pork chops and pork burgers will be served with sides, dessert and a drink.

Drive-thru service is available.

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next community dinner is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 13 at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

The menu features a potato bar, salad bar and desserts.

Choir from mission school to perform

NEW PALESTINE — The Cardinal Singers will be in concert at 7 p.m. April 28 at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. CR 500W.

The ensemble is from Red Bird Christian School in Beverly, Kentucky. The concert is is part of an annual Spring Tour that will stop in Indiana and Illinois this year.

The concert will include vocal music, drama, and a 24-member dulcimer ensemble.

In addition to the musical program, a small display of traditional Appalachian crafts produced in the area of Red Bird Mission will be available for purchase. Everyone is invited to this free concert of contemporary and traditional Christian music.

Red Bird Mission is a National Mission Institution in covenant with the United Methodist Women located in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky. The mission serves the needs of families through programs including a preK-12 school with approximately 230 students.

Group of churches offers scholarship

NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine Fellowship of Churches will give a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who attends or is a member or constituent of one of the churches affiliated with the Fellowship.

Applications are available in church offices or the guidance office at New Palestine High School. They may be turned in there as well.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and show evidence of enrollment. They do not have to attend New Palestine High School.

Selection criteria include participation in church activities, community involvement and scholarship, with special emphasis on the statement of faith in daily life.

Applications are due before May 1.

The churches in the fellowship are Community Christian Church, New Palestine Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), New Palestine United Church (His Place) on U.S. 52, and New Palestine United Methodist Church on Gem Road.

St. Thomas offers meatless meals

FORTVILLE — St. Thomas has been serving meatless meals from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays of Lent in the parish activity center.

Friday’s menu will feature tuna salad on croissants, baked pasta and egg salad. Meals include assorted vegetables, salad, desserts and drink.

A free-will offering is taken.

Spring Fling to raise money for new roof

NEW PALESTINE — Zion United Church of Christ, 8916 E. Troy Ave., Indianapolis, plans a fundraiser for a new roof on its community education building.

Raise the Roof Spring Fling is set for 6 to 11 p.m. Friday at Adaggios Banquet Hall and Conference Center, 5999 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield.

The evening will include live and silent auctions with dinner and dancing. Some of the live auction packages include trips in the United States and abroad, cruises and bucket list adventures.

The silent auction includes a private wine tasting for 25, sports tickets, gourmet baskets, collectibles and family fun packs.

Tickets cost $30 for people 15 and older and $22.95 for people 14 and younger.

Baked potato bar to aid youth trip

NEW PALESTINE — Youth at New Palestine United Methodist Church will have a baked potato bar fundraiser from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (or until potatoes run out) April 18 at the church, 3565 S. County Road 500W.

All proceeds benefit the Rooted youth group’s activities and mission trip.

A Maundy Thursday service follows at 7 p.m.

Lenten service series continues Sunday evening

GREENFIELD — A series of Lenten services continues Sunday, with locations rotating among a cluster of local United Methodist churches.

-6:30 p.m. Sunday (April 7): Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chris Dourson preaching

-6:30 p.m. April 14: Liberty United Methodist Church, a Palm Sunday service of music featuring the Cluster Cantata Choir, directed by Gloria Thomas

-6:30 p.m. April 18: Maundy Thursday service with Communion at Carrollton United Methodist Church, with a pitch-in dinner afterward

-6:30 p.m. April 19: Good Friday service at Morristown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Brackney preaching

Easter concert is April 14

NEW PALESTINE — An Easter concert is set for 6:30 p.m. April 14 at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. County Road 500W (Gem Road).

Lenten series has courtroom theme

GREENFIELD — St. James Lutheran Church will have another Lenten meal and service Wednesday.

The meal begins at 6 p.m., followed by the service at 7 at the church, 1741 S. State St.

The church’s series for Lent is “Convicted” and steps into the courtroom each week. Each service puts a different biblical person from the story of Christ’s passion and death on trial, accused of an actual crime.
