MCCORDSVILLE — The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is mourning the death of a seventh-grade teacher who was killed in an accident.

Adam Bisesi, 35, who taught at Mt. Vernon Middle School, died after being struck and killed on U.S. 31 in Carmel Tuesday afternoon.

While details of the accident are still under investigation, officials from the Carmel Police Department said the accident happened on the northbound exit ramp to 146th and 151st streets.

“He was always quick with a smile and was a beloved member of the Mt. Vernon family,” Maria Bond, district communications official, said in a news release.

Officials from the school district have activated their crisis response team and several counselors will be available for students and staff, plus additional counselors from other community partners.

“This is a difficult time for all, and we need to support each other and help those who need assistance,” Bond said.

This story will be updated as more details become available.
