HANCOCK COUNTY — Daylight saving time begins Sunday. Those planning to visit a house of worship on Sunday are reminded to set their clocks forward one hour before going to sleep Saturday night.

Grief Share meets in McCordsville

Lenten study looks at disciple Peter

GREENFIELD — Trinity Park United Methodist Church offers a Lenten study series on Simon Peter at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the church, 207 W. Park Ave.

Lenten series has courtroom theme

GREENFIELD — St. James Lutheran Church will have Lenten meals and services on March 13, 20 and 27, and April 3 and 10.

The meal begins at 6 p.m., followed by the service at 7 at the church, 1741 S. State St.

The church’s series for Lent is “Convicted” and steps into the courtroom each week. Each service puts a different biblical person from the story of Christ’s passion and death on trial, accused of an actual crime.

St. Thomas offers meatless meals

FORTVILLE — St. Thomas is serving meatless meals from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays of Lent in the parish activity center.

Remaining menus will be:

March 15 – Quiche, salmon patties and macaroni and cheese

March 22 – Fettuccini, egg casserole and company French toast

March 29 – Fried fish, chili cheese etouffee and rice

April 5 – Fried fish, macaroni and cheese and lasagna

April 7 – Tuna salad on croissants, baked pasta and egg salad

Meals include assorted vegetables, salad, desserts and drink.

A free-will offering is taken for all meals but the fish fries.

Fish fry meals cost $7 each.

Apostolic youth to gather for conference

GREENFIELD — Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1202 E. Fifth St., is the site for the United Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ National Youth Conference.

The conference begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continues with sessions at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. March 16. It is for all ages, and there is no cost.

McCordsville church offers dinner, breakfast

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next community dinner is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday (March 9) at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

The menu features ham and beans, cornbread, salads and desserts. Free-will donations will be accepted.

The church will also serve breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. March 16. Free-will donations will be accepted.

Wind symphony to perform

NEW PALESTINE — Liberty University Wind Symphony is coming to New Palestine High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield has been responsible for getting them to come.

Admission is free, and the public is invited.

The wind symphony is an auditioned instrumental ensemble for students who are advanced players of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Its repertoire includes original and transcribed advanced wind symphony works from all eras, including exploration of new sounds and rhythms by contemporary composers.

The wind symphony travels on an extensive spring tour annually, where it performs multiple concerts at a variety of venues, plus the ensemble enjoys recording sessions and additional concerts on campus each semester.

Spud Supper to aid mission projects

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church at 3447 South State Road 9, Greenfield, will have its annual Spud Supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 30. Several potato toppings, salads, hot dogs, desserts, and drinks will be available. Carry-out is an option. A free-will offering will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit mission and special projects.

Good Friday service set in Shirley

SHIRLEY — Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley-area churches, will have a community Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. April 19 at Grant City Wesleyan Church, 4411 S. Grant City Road, Shirley.
