GREENFIELD — For the sixth time in 15 years, the Greenfield-Central Cougars are looking for a boys basketball coach.

Just a week after their 2018-19 season ended, Cougars coach Lukas Haworth has resigned after his team won four games during the season.

The Cougars went 11-36 in Haworth’s two years, finishing this season 4-20 and 0-7 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. They were 7-16 last year and 1-6 in HHC action.

The position is open and has been posted on the school corporation website and the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association website.

"We do wish the circumstances were different; however, we will be looking for a new coach of our men’s basketball program following Coach Haworth’s resignation," Greenfield-Central Athletic Director Jared Manning said. "We appreciate all that Coach Haworth and his staff did over the last two years."

Haworth, who declined to comment, spent three years as a varsity assistant at Greenfield-Central with coach Michael Lewis, from 2014 until Lewis accepted a new position in 2017. His departure means the school will be making its sixth boys basketball coaching change since 2005.

The school is also searching for a new volleyball coach and has new football and baseball coaches for 2019.

The new basketball coach will inherit an experienced team, as the Cougars will return almost their entire varsity basketball lineup from this season, with only one senior graduating.
