Protecting the border with wall will prevent influx of drugs and disease

To the editor:

The recent writer who compares the Maginot Line, a “wall” built after World War I to prevent German invasion, has confused two totally different “walls” when comparing Trump’s security measures with same. (“Trump’s wall: A modern-day Maginot Line,” Michael Adkins’ column, Feb. 2-4, Page A4.)

The French wall failed because a huge, militarized aggressor overwhelmed it, while Trump correctly knows the wall he is building will be a barrier against worldwide terrorists, human smuggling and especially the lethal flood of drugs pouring across the porous southern border.

It makes zero sense to leave the border unprotected, and yet the left, as usual, only sees future voters coming across to vote for the Democrats and all the “free stuff” they promise. The USA cannot absorb the Earth’s entire destitute population; we have neither the room nor the ability to afford this nightmare.

If the Democrats want more voters, let them offer common-sense platforms that might attract some of the millions who have left the ever more socialist/leftist party.

The recent measles, mumps and other awful disease outbreaks we recently see are another side effect of unchecked illegal entry into our country. Trump’s No. 1 job is to protect the country, and the southern wall is a necessity right now.

Israel’s wall is 99 percent effective, so we know walls work. The left sees fit to keep illegals and drugs pouring in for political reasons — more voters for them — and that is what is immoral, not any wall.
