‘Green Book’ set in Deep South in 1962

GREENFIELD — Italian-American Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) is hired to accompany Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali), a world-class African-American pianist as he embarks on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. Shirley recruits Vallelonga, a tough-talking bouncer, as a driver and for protection as they use the “The Negro Motorist Green Book” to navigate to diversity-friendly restaurants and hotels south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
