As a community, we have so very much to appreciate this holiday season. Generosity abounds and is witnessed over and over through the continued support of charitable causes.

It is only through the giving of people like you that Hancock County Community Foundation will grant $1.3 million this year. We are thankful for the opportunity to steward gifts and administer grants that make an incredible difference to benefactors.

Of the $1.3 million, $225,000 is granted from a source of unrestricted funds. These community development resources are used for the sole purpose of allowing HCCF the flexibility to benefit the ever-changing needs and opportunities of Hancock County including nonprofit grant support and community enhancement projects.

On Oct. 12, Lilly Endowment, a dear friend of Indiana Community Foundations, announced an incredible opportunity…GIFT VII. The Giving Indiana Funds For Tomorrow (GIFT) challenge grant is the seventh in HCCF’s history.

Effective Oct. 1, every unrestricted $1 gift made to HCCF will be matched with $2. This remarkable opportunity allows you to triple the impact of your donation! The Hancock County Enrichment Fund is one option for gift consideration, but there are many named community development funds on HCCF’s charitable menu from which to choose.

Interested in creating a legacy? You may wish to consider establishing and endowing a named fund. My family and I did so during GIFT VI and plan to leverage this incredible opportunity to grow it during GIFT VII.

HCCF is incredibly thankful to Lilly Endowment for the opportunity to further serve you and strengthen this great Hancock County that we call home. Please consider giving where you live to grow where you live during this holiday season.

Mary Gibble is President/CEO of the Hancock County Community Foundation. HCCF provides philanthropic leadership by encouraging giving, learning, community pride and civic engagement. Working with caring individuals, families, and organizations to create or grow existing permanent endowment funds is critical to the organization’s mission. These funds generate income that is distributed in the form of grants and scholarships to enrich and enhance life in Hancock County, as well as support the donor’s favorite charitable causes, both at home and afar forever. HCCF has granted more than $14 million since its inception in 1992.
