NEW PALESTINE — A student’s threat on social media led to an extra police presence at New Palestine High School Tuesday morning.

An investigation by school officials and local law enforcement determined the threat was not credible and no students or staff were in danger. But as a precaution, Hancock County sheriff’s deputies and New Palestine Police Department officers were on hand during the day.

School leaders applauded students who reported the threat to administrators. They encouraged students, parents and community members to report any unusual activity in and around school buildings via the “Report a Bully” form on the school’s website or by directly contacting a school district employee.
