HANCOCK COUNTY — A story about the discussion about adding space at New Palestine High School ("Southern Hancock board will seek input on expansion," Wednesday, Page A1) might have created the impression the board will consider building a new structure.

Officials said they are preparing for renovations rather than an entirely new high school at another site.

"We have areas of the high school that need renovation but not new construction," Superintendent Lisa Lantrip said in an email to the Daily Reporter. "The conversations that we are having at present are around building, student and instructional needs. We are in the process of identifying the specific needs to address in a building renovation project."

After they have identified needs, district officials will then put together a plan on how best to address the identified needs, Lantrip said.
