GREENFIELD — During the first 12 days of December, when patrons borrow a corresponding number of items from the Hancock County Public Library’s building in Greenfield or New Palestine, they’ll get an entry in a prize drawing for a PlayStation 4.

County residents are on track to check out over a million items once again, according to a news release. As 2018 counts down, the library has launched a “Twelve Days of Library” campaign that encourages local residents to stop in and see the variety of resources they can borrow.

Anyone living in Hancock County can apply for a library card and check out items the same day. All that’s required is proof of address with the applicant’s name, such as a current driving license, photo ID, or utility bill.

In “The Twelve Days of Library” campaign, whenever the number of items cardholders check out matches the date, they can present their check-out receipt at the desk. The library will give them an entry in the PlayStation drawing.

For instance, on first day, Dec. 1, check out at least one item; on the second day, Dec. 2, two items, etc. The promotion continues every day until Dec. 12: after twelve days, 12 entries.

The prize drawing takes place on December 13, in plenty of time to give the PlayStation 4 as a holiday gift.
