Psi Iota Xi prepares for largest annual fundraiser

GREENFIELD — The Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi spent about nine hours in early November making 1,326 cheese balls. Cheese balls are the sorority’s largest fundraiser, earning about $5,000 the philanthropic sorority donates back to the community in the areas of speech and hearing and art, literature, and music. The cheese balls come rolled in nuts or plain and cost $6 each.

The Upsilon chapter was honored to support Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center at their bowling fundraiser on Nov. 4. The team recorded a high score of 164.

The Upsilon chapter hosted its first Lip Sync War on Oct. 13. More than 100 attendees witnessed 13 outrageous, high-energy performances from six local celebrity teams. Psi Iota Xi earned $2,834.76 from the event, which will go in the organization’s endowment.

Psi Iota Xi, founded in 1897 in Muncie, is a women’s philanthropic organization with chapters throughout the midwestern United States. Psi Iota Xi chapters are focused on raising money and offering volunteer service to improve the quality of life in their communities. Philanthropic priorities are speech and hearing, and art, music and literature.
