GREENFIELD

James M. “Jim” Davis, age 83, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Golden LivingCenter – Brandywine. He was born in Indianapolis on July 5, 1935 to Robert and Garnet (McCabe) Davis. Jim graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1954.

He worked for Eli Lilly as an auto mechanic for over 25 years before retiring. Jim was a 50 member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge and past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Murat Shrine in Indianapolis. Jim was a Hancock County Reserve Sheriff Deputy for many years. He enjoyed watching Westerns and rodeos. He was very involved in church missions and community service outreach.

Jim is survived by his son, Mike (Kathy) Davis of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Becky (Bob) Gearlds of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Charles, Nikki, Ryan, Sara, and Austin; five great-grandchildren; brother, Chet (Maggie) Davis of Lakeland, FL; and sisters, Lois Holmes of Greenfield and Carolyn Schroeder of Ingalls, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Garnet Davis.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 with viewing one hour prior to the service. A masonic service will take place immediately before the start of the funeral service. Pastor Matt Wickham will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
