MESQUITE, NEVADA

Stephen Eugene (Buddha) Copple, 75, resident of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at his home.

The oldest of four brothers, he was born on December 5, 1942, in Shelby County, Indiana. He married Janice Platt in 1961 and lived for 34 years in Fountaintown, Indiana, where they raised three daughters. He worked for 30 years at Detroit Diesel Allison (General Motors) in Indianapolis, retiring at age 49.

Steve and Janice shared a love of gambling and the great weather in Nevada and made the move to Mesquite in 1995. Mesquite also fed his life-long passion for golf. He worked the last several years of his life at the Oasis Golf Club maintaining golf carts.

Through life, Steve never met a stranger and made fast and lasting friendships in Indiana and Nevada. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the epitome of the “fun” dad – never saying no to a game of cards, shooting baskets, or playing in the pool.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janice Copple; his parents, Eugene and Mildred Copple; and brothers Danny Copple and Stan Copple.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Dawn (Tom) O’Connor of Mason, OH; Deneen (Roger) Lucchesi of Pueblo, CO; Kelly (John) Turner of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel and Stephen Turner; Molly (Todd) Locke, and Mark O’Connor. He is also survived by his brother Mike (Donna) Copple of St. Augustine, FL; sister-in-law Janet Copple of Morristown, IN, and foster sister Joan (Dennis) Carmichael of Knightstown, IN.

Information on memorial celebrations will be announced at a later time.
