NEW PALESTINE — Zion Lutheran Church and School recently offered a full slate of fun, food and entertainment at its 43rd annual GermanFest. Expanding on past years, the event offered a full day of activities, including a touch-a-truck experience, two bounce houses, hayrides and face painting.

The a la carte lunch menu items offered hot dogs, brats, premium brats from Smoking Goose, sauerkraut, chips, water and soda and additional snack items such as made-to-order cotton candy and Ben’s soft pretzels.

At 4 p.m., activities moved inside for dinner and a raffle for a German cake from Cafe Heidelberg. The dinner menu included ribs and kraut, Saurbraten, ham, brats, sauerkraut, German potato salad, potato pancakes, red cabbage, green beans, pretzels and rolls or a kids’ menu of hot dogs, chips and applesauce. A variety of drinks and desserts were also available.

Guests sat at tables decorated with a fall theme and enjoyed the ambiance created by Bob Schlatter’s German Band out of Lafayette.
