Why are you running for office?

I am running for county clerk because I want to be more involved in my community. This is a way to be connected and to serve. I have a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in accounting from IU Indianapolis. I have worked for a major insurance company for 39 years. I work with plaintiff and defense attorneys on a daily basis. In my current position as a claims representative, I use Odyssey, an e-filing system that replaces legal paper filings. I think my background in business and accounting experience make me the most qualified candidate.

What do you think are the most pressing issues facing the county clerk’s office?

We will need to review of the Voter Express system being implemented in this year’s general election since it’s a pilot program. We will see if we want to continue its use in the next election.

What are your top three goals if elected to the position?

To work with the election board to determine if voting systems, such as Voter Express, will enhance the speed and efficiency of the elections.

Evaluate the day-to-day operations of the clerk’s office. I will look for additional ways to be more efficient.

Review the processes and procedures regarding collection of revenue. The clerk’s office collects a significant amount of money. It is necessary to have proper controls and separation of duties.
